A Home Built
Around You.

THL is expanding housing options for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Baton Rouge. Community-led. Louisiana-rooted.

<12% of IDD adults rent or own their homes
~80% of autistic adults live with family after high school
40% of unhoused people have a disability

Three Pillars of Every Home We Build

Good housing isn't one-size-fits-all. Our developments are guided by three core commitments that put the resident first — always.

Safety

Every home we develop exceeds accessibility and safety standards — because a safe home is the foundation of an independent life.

  • Zero-threshold entryways and wide doorways (36"+)
  • Emergency call systems and smart monitoring options
  • Non-slip surfaces, grab bars, and fall-reduction design
  • Secure, well-lit common areas and entrances

Community

Isolation is one of the greatest barriers facing disabled adults. We design for connection — shared spaces, neighborhood integration, and belonging.

  • Inclusive common rooms and outdoor gathering spaces
  • Integration within walkable, transit-connected neighborhoods
  • Resident-led programming and peer support networks
  • Partnerships with local disability-serving organizations

Tailored Architecture

We work with each future resident to design their space around their specific needs — sensory, mobility, cognitive, and personal preference.

  • Sensory-sensitive room design (lighting, acoustics, texture)
  • Roll-in showers, adjustable counters, and adaptive kitchens
  • Flexible floorplans that grow with changing needs
  • Universal Design principles throughout every unit

Built on the Belief That Everyone Belongs

Together Home Louisiana was founded by disability advocates, architects, and family members who saw the same crisis everywhere: disabled adults trapped in nursing facilities, living in inaccessible rentals, or dependent on family arrangements that left little room for self-determination.

We don't build housing for disabled people — we build it with them. Our co-design process ensures residents help shape every space they call home, from floorplan layout to neighborhood selection to the color of their kitchen walls.

As a nonprofit, every dollar raised goes directly into development, design, and the wraparound services that help residents thrive long after move-in day.
