Isolation is one of the greatest barriers facing disabled adults. We design for connection — shared spaces, neighborhood integration, and belonging.
We work with each future resident to design their space around their specific needs — sensory, mobility, cognitive, and personal preference.
In 2025, a number of families and stakeholders toured the homes built by Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana. Inspired by what they saw, the came back to Baton Rouge motivated to bring solutions to the housing shortage for disabled adults.
In January 2026, a town hall was held to introduce ASSL’s model and gauge local interest in working to address the need of families to find long-term housing for their disabled adult members. With over 40 attendees and featuring presentations by Drew Walker, executive director of the Capital Area Autism Network, and Melissa Griffin from ASSL, it was clear the community was eager to find an answer for a long-standing concern of many families.
Together Home Louisiana was formalized to address that need. By listening to the needs of the community and looking to examples close to home and around the country, we are working to bring the necessary voices to the table to begin addressing the need for housing that leads to meaningful engagement for disabled individuals close to home.
